Operations Overview

The Operations team exists to ensure Code Town Inc runs smoothly as a business. We handle the non-engineering work that keeps the company healthy, compliant, funded, and growing. Our mission is to remove friction, provide clarity, and enable the engineering and product organizations to focus on building and shipping great products.

  • Bias for clarity — Make information discoverable and processes explicit.
  • Default to automation — If we do it more than twice, we automate or template it.
  • Lightweight, not bureaucratic — Create only the process needed, never more.
  • Small team, big output — Operate like a force multiplier for the entire company.

Owns the systems and processes that keep the company running day-to-day. This includes:

  • Managing vendor relationships, subscriptions, and SaaS tooling.
  • Supporting the sales and GTM motion through pricing, contracts, and deal operations
  • Handling customer billing and subscription management in Stripe
  • Responding to enterprise security questionnaires and due diligence requests.

Business Ops is also responsible for strategic projects that don’t naturally belong to engineering or product, including offsite planning, internal documentation, and cross-functional initiatives.

Manages the financial health of the company. Responsibilities include bookkeeping and monthly close, accounts payable and receivable, expense management, and tax compliance across federal and state obligations. Finance also owns relationships with external accountants and any state or regulatory filings. For most financial decisions, we work with external partners and maintain internal visibility through lightweight reporting.

Supports the team from hire to offboard. This includes coordinating hiring pipelines, managing onboarding and offboarding checklists, administering benefits, and maintaining employee records. People Ops also owns the employee handbook and ensures our policies stay current and clearly communicated. As a small team, we keep people processes simple and human. The goal is a great experience for every team member, not process for its own sake.

Handles contracts, legal review, and regulatory obligations. This includes:

  • NDAs, MSAs, DPAs, and other customer or vendor agreements
  • Ensuring the company meets applicable data privacy requirements (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • Managing any ongoing state and local compliance obligations
  • Coordinating with outside counsel when specialized legal review is needed.

We aim to move quickly on routine agreements using standard templates, escalating only when necessary.
